Frodsham Caves

caveThese, surprisingly large, sandstone caves are a well-known local landmark. The enclosure is part of a local dairy farm and consequently the caves are often used for shelter by cattle.

Editors note: Frodsham Caves are on Private Land. Out of deference to the land owner I have removed all references to the physical location of the caves.

"Of all the caves on the Sandstone Ridge, Upton's Caves are associated with the most stories and legends although they are barely remembered today. The name Upton is forgotten and the caves are generally known as the Frodsham or Overton Caves." - Taken from UPTON'S CAVES, FRODSHAM - HERITAGE ON THE RIDGE
