This is a fine example of a 17th century timber framed cottage that like many in the town would have originally been thatched. The Roman numeral carpenters marks, still visible on the oak timbers, allowed them to be easily prefabricated. The cottage can be clearly seen on the right of this picture taken in the early 20th century, which also shows the significant contribution the trees make to the street scene.
Listed Grade II (17th century) - A timber-framed house on a sandstone plinth with plaster infill and a slate roof. It is in two storeys and has a three-bay front. The windows are casements.
